DocuSign
Deploy CLEAR within your Docusign software to create identity backed e-signatures
Overview
Use CLEAR within DocuSign to add high-assurance identity verification to your signing workflows.
With CLEAR + DocuSign, organizations can require signers to complete biometric identity verification before accessing and signing an envelope. By verifying identity before signature, organizations can increase confidence that the individual signing a document is the intended recipient.
Whether supporting employee onboarding, NDAs, compensation letters, vendor agreements, financial documents, healthcare forms, or other high-value transactions, CLEAR helps ensure signers are who they claim to be before completing the signing process.
How It Works
When creating an envelope, DocuSign administrators or senders can configure identity verification requirements directly within the DocuSign workflow.
The sender defines the recipient and provides the user information required for verification. This information is passed to CLEAR as part of the signing experience.
When the recipient receives the envelope, they are prompted to complete CLEAR identity verification before accessing the document. Once verification is successful, the recipient can proceed with reviewing and signing the envelope.
Unlike integrations that leverage ecosystem identity and persistent user associations, the DocuSign integration leverages CLEAR's Networked Identity capabilities to establish identity assurance at the time of signing. This allows organizations to verify that the signer is who they claim to be without requiring a pre-existing CLEAR User ID or identity relationship within the organization's systems.
CLEAR and DocuSign have distinct responsibilities within this workflow.
CLEAR Responsibilities
Identity Verification
CLEAR performs identity verification according to the settings configured within DocuSign.
CLEAR maintains a baseline identity assurance standard that requires verification across the following components at a minimum:
- Biometric Verification
- Document Verification
- Source Validation
Organizations can configure additional verification requirements to increase identity assurance based on business, legal, or regulatory requirements.
Identity Assurance
CLEAR confirms that the individual attempting to sign the document is the person they claim to be.
This verification occurs before the signer is granted access to the envelope, providing an additional layer of trust and security within the signing process.
DocuSign Responsibilities
Envelope Configuration
DocuSign enables administrators and senders to determine which envelopes require identity verification.
Identity verification can be applied to specific document types, workflows, or signer populations based on organizational requirements.
Workflow Configuration
DocuSign allows administrators to define where identity verification occurs within the signing workflow and configure the desired level of verification rigor.
Recipient Management
DocuSign manages recipient information and provides the user attributes required to facilitate identity verification.
Routing and Signing Experience
DocuSign manages envelope delivery, recipient routing, signature collection, document completion, and audit trails.
Once identity verification has been completed successfully, DocuSign allows the signer to proceed with reviewing and signing the envelope.
